Hazard calls move to the front of the line, across both counties.

North Coast storm season does not schedule appointments. When a winter front comes through Humboldt or Del Norte, the calls come with it: firs across driveways, spruce tops through roofs, limbs hanging over power drops by a strip of bark. We prioritize hazard calls over everything else on the board.

Storm work is the most dangerous work in this trade. Fallen trees are under load in directions you cannot see, and a chainsaw in the wrong place releases that load instantly. Please do not try to clear a storm-damaged tree yourself. That is not a sales line; it is the thing every arborist wishes homeowners knew.

One more honest note: the best emergency call is the one you never have to make. Most of the trees we clear off houses in January are trees somebody was already worried about in October. If you have a leaner, a dead top, or a tree that sheds big limbs every winter, get a free assessment before the next front arrives.

If a tree is down right now

  1. Keep everyone away from the tree, especially if it is resting on a structure.
  2. Power lines involved? Stay far back and call PG&E first: their line, their job.
  3. Take photos from a safe distance for your insurance claim.

  5. Do not cut anything. Storm-loaded wood is under tension and can kill.

Storm damage questions

A tree just fell on my house. What do I do first?

Get everyone out and away from the damaged area, and if any power line is involved, stay far back and call PG&E before anyone else. Then call us. Do not climb on the roof or try to cut anything yourself; storm-loaded limbs are under tension and they are the most dangerous cutting there is.

Do you answer storm calls outside business hours?

Our regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, and during major storm events we do everything we can to reach hazard situations quickly. Call and leave a message any time; hazard calls are the first thing we respond to.

Will my homeowner's insurance cover this?

Often, yes, when a tree damages a covered structure. Take photos before anything is moved, call your insurer to open a claim, and keep every receipt. We provide the documentation and invoices your adjuster needs.

The tree hasn't fallen yet but it's leaning worse. Is that an emergency?

Treat it like one. A tree that has visibly moved, lifted its roots, or cracked is telling you exactly what it plans to do. Call us, send photos, and stay out from under it. Removing a leaner before it falls is far cheaper than craning it off a roof after.
