A company that only cuts trees down is half a tree company. Planting is where the judgment shows early: the tree that thrives for eighty years and the one that heaves the sidewalk in fifteen were both planted on a Saturday by someone who meant well. Species, spot, and planting depth decide most of a tree's life before its first summer.
Right tree, right place
The species-selection conversation is the cheapest insurance in tree work. Fog tolerance, wind exposure, soil drainage, mature size, distance to the house, the septic field, and the power drop: we walk the spot, hear what you want from the tree, and recommend species that will actually do that job here, on the North Coast, not in the catalog's imagined climate.

Planted to establish
Every planting gets the boring fundamentals that decide survival: a hole wider than it is deep, the root flare at grade, native soil backfill, a watering basin, mulch kept off the trunk, and staking only when the site demands it, removed before it does harm. You get plain-English care instructions for the first two summers, and we are a phone call away if the tree ever looks unsure about its new home. CSLB #1132934.

Planting questions
When is the best time to plant trees on the North Coast?
Fall through early spring, when the rains do the watering and roots establish before the first dry summer. Container stock can go in most of the year here if someone commits to watering, but planting with the rain is planting on easy mode.
What should I plant for a privacy screen?
Depends on the site: wind exposure, fog, soil, how fast you want the screen and how tall you want it to stop. There are species that thrive on the coast and species that sulk here, and the difference is invisible at the nursery. That is exactly what the species-selection conversation is for.
Can you replant where a tree was removed?
Yes, and it works best when we know in advance. We grind the old stump deeper than standard, clear the grindings, and backfill with soil so the new tree starts in soil, not wood chips. Tell us at the removal quote and we will plan the whole sequence.
Do you guarantee the trees you plant?
We guarantee the planting is done right: proper hole, correct depth, staked if it needs it, and honest care instructions. A living thing in its first summer also needs water, and that part lives at your hose. We set every new tree up to make that job as small as possible.
