Tree Removal in McKinleyville, at a glance

In McKinleyville we take down a lot of wind-formed shore pine and spruce west of Central Avenue that have finally leaned too far toward a house, plus the dead firs on the older ranch parcels toward Dows Prairie. Access is usually good enough to get the truck close, and where there is an open lay we fell whole, which keeps the number down.

We know these neighborhoods because we drive them every day: coastal lots off Hiller Road and School Road where salt wind prunes trees its own way, windbreak rows around the older ranch properties toward Dows Prairie, and family yards near Azalea Avenue with one big fir that has gotten too big to ignore.

How tree removal goes in McKinleyville

Nothing shields McKinleyville from the ocean; winter fronts hit the west side of town head-on, and the shore pines, spruce, and cypress lean and shed to prove it. A removal in McKinleyville is planned around that: firm-soil dates for big trees when the tree can wait, hazard dates when it cannot. We tell you which one you have, and if the honest answer is that the tree does not need to come down, we say that instead.

Wind-formed shore pine and Sitka spruce with a permanent lean and dead limbs over a house are the most common McKinleyville call, especially after the first big front. McKinleyville is home base, so we are minutes away for a storm call and can usually quote the same week.

When McKinleyville homeowners call for tree removal

  • A shore pine or Sitka spruce with a dead or browning top, conks at the base, or a crack where two stems meet.
  • A tree so close to the house, the neighbor's roof, or the road that no amount of trimming makes it safe.
  • Sprouting redwood or a topped tree with heavy, weakly attached regrowth.
  • Roots heaving the foundation, the driveway, or the sidewalk near Hiller Road.

McKinleyville mixes newer subdivisions with older ranch parcels and coastal lots west of Central Avenue, and access is usually good enough to get a truck close. Sandy coastal soils drain fast and hold roots poorly in wind, which is why big spruce here can go over with the whole root plate attached.

Working in McKinleyville

Being local matters in a storm. When something comes down across a driveway in McKinleyville, we are minutes away, not hours. And for everything short of an emergency, quotes are free and usually fast, because the drive is short.

Tree Removal in McKinleyville: questions

How much does tree removal cost in McKinleyville?

It depends on the tree and the lot more than the town. Size, what is under the crown, access for the chipper, and what you want done with the wood set the number. Quotes in McKinleyville are free and firm.

Can you fell a tree whole in McKinleyville, or does it have to come down in pieces?

Both happen in McKinleyville. On the more open parcels toward Central Avenue we fell whole when it is safe, which is faster and cheaper; near structures it is a dismantle. The arborist tells you which at the quote.

Do you remove trees near power lines in McKinleyville?

Near them, yes, with a rigging plan that keeps every piece clear. In them, the utility has to be involved first.

Who does the tree removal work in McKinleyville?

Our own licensed crew, not a subcontractor. The arborist who quotes the job is the one who plans it, and the same crew that shows up is the one that cleans up.
